Ossining, NY

Market Square Redevelopment

Urbanscape teamed with the Drescher Development Group in the planning and redesign of a mixed-use development in the heart of historic Ossining. The proposal seeks to repair the damage done from Urban Renewal in the 1950’s when half of Main Street was demolished and replaced with surface parking. The proposal will include a mix of uses including market and affordable housing, office, and ground-floor retail and artist/community space. The proposal will also double the size of the village square through various public realm improvements including the closure of Spring Street to vehicles. The added public space will allow for the expansion of the Ossining Farmer’s Market as well as a variety of other community activities and events.

After: Main Street is redesigned to put people first and surface parking lots are reimagined as a new village square with a mix of residential, office and retail.
